About Department

The Department of Economics was established in KES, Dr. C. D. Deshmukh Commerce & Sau. K.G. Tamhane College, Roha - Raigad in 1983. Since its inception, along with academics, it has excelled in establishing co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. The Department believes in engaging students with stimulating project, assignment, annual study tours, guest lectures by eminent lecturers. The department has its own departmental library with 150 plus books. We conduct remedial coaching for departmental students. Department of Economics has dominance as far as total college students’ strength is concern.

Aim & Objectives

• To Make the classroom teaching learning process interesting through suitable Student-centric method.
• To conduct group discussion about newly introduced concepts in Economics and economics related sub-themes.
• To encourage student in acquiring various skills related to information technology.
• To organize workshops, seminars, conferences, etc.
• To evaluate student’s performance internally and externally with the help of assignments and projects.

• Continuous improvement in the Result of T.Y.B.A. & T.Y.B.Com.
• Mr. S. D. Patil has co-authored 3 text books in economics for Institute of Distance & Open Learning (IDOL) of University of Mumbai. (IDOL)
• Our department organised University Level Workshop on Revised Syllabus of TYBA Economics in 2018.
• Honourable Vice-Chancellor of our parent University has nominated Our Principal Dr. A. H. Salukhe as member of BoS in Business Economics at University of Mumbai.
• Our faculty member Mr. S. D. Patil submitted his Ph. D. thesis to Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathwada University, Nanded (MS).
• Our Principal Dr. A. H. Salukhe received State level Best Principal Award (2022) for contribution in spreading awareness about Career Katta a joint initiative by Higher and Technical Education Department of Government of Maharashtra and Maharashtra Information Technology Support Centre, (MITSC) .

Departmental Future Plans

• To implement all reforms as per NEP 2020.
• To design inter-discipline and multidiscipline courses for skills development.
• To start You Tube Channels for the purpose of college students and those who are willing to participate in competitive exams.
• To start small scale Industrial training programs.
• To introduce employment oriented and self - employment promoting courses.
• To start Short-Term Courses on the topics like Economic Survey, Share Market, RTI Act, etc.
